Sonia
King had already been singing and recording when she was
asked in 1985 to record and tour with a popular group from
Jamaica called "Channels of Praise".
Shortly after that she became one of the lead vocalists for the Handsworth
Mass Choir who received the BBC Gospel Choir of the
Year award in 1987, this led to various appearances for
television, radio and Greenbelt.
Following these achievements Sonia worked with gifted singer/songwriter and musician Paul Poulton on three of his albums, as well as touring with him. Her contribution to Pauls "Body and Soul" album was highlighted by Dave Roberts in the Alpha Magazine as "..stratospheric backing vocals".
Sonia has recorded with a number of artistes including Rob Ash, Chris & Gary and Dalton Kerr. Her performance at the visit of Martin Luther King III in 1997 received much acclaim and was summarized as "remarkable".
Recently Sonia and her husband Ruben set up a recording studio and completed albums for John Wade, The Flame, Enid Rose Weir and Simon Farrell.. They wrote the chorus "Amen, even so, come Lord Jesus", that was signed by Kingsways Thank you Music in April 1999.
Sonia Kings debut CD EP entitled "I Feel Good" has four tracks, blending R&B, Sixties Jive and Soul/Swing. The songs share some real life experiences, whilst exhibiting the excellent quality of Sonias voice and flaunting her versatility and creativity.
